Frequently Asked Questions

If you are interested in knowing more about our services in order to decide if we could be a good fit, you can email us at newclient@sbbcaba.com or submit a request for a free consultation. Our intake coordinator will contact you and begin the process.

  • 1. The first step of our intake process involves a free consultation over the phone to learn more about your child's needs and to provide more information about our services. If you have any additional questions or would like to schedule an in-person consultation/tour of our facilities, we can help with that as well, during this initial free consultation.

    2. If after the free consultation, it is determined we might be a good fit for your child's needs, we will email you a list of requirements to begin the enrollment process. There are 4 things needed to be added to our waiting list - completed intake packet, diagnostic evaluation for Autism Spectrum Disorder completed by qualified healthcare professional (a school evaluation is not accepted by insurance companies), a referral for ABA services from your primary health care provider, and a copy of your insurance card(s). Instructions will be provided in the email sent to you after the initial free consultation phone call.

    3. Once ALL the required enrollment paperwork is received, you will be added to our waitlist and informed of the estimated date for becoming an active client.

    4. Prior to coming on as an active client, we will contact you to begin the authorization process for ABA assessments with your insurance company. That may take a few weeks to be processed.

    5. After insurance approves ABA assessments, we will contact you to schedule a time to complete individualized assessments for your child. We will complete several types of assessments including but not limited to interviews, observations, surveys, and other skill based assessments, along with functional behavior assessments (FBA), as needed.

    6. We will develop an individualized treatment plan based on the results of your child's assessment. We will get your input in this process and prioritize goals that are meaningful to you and your child.

    7. We will share this treatment plan with you for your consent prior to requesting for insurance to approve ABA services. If you consent for your child to participate in ABA treatment with us, we will submit the treatment plan to your insurance company for approval.

    8. Insurance companies take between 2-4 weeks to approve a request for ABA therapy after a treatment plan has been submitted for approval. Once the request for ABA therapy has been authorized by insurance, we will schedule your child's first day of services with us.

    9. We will also schedule an in-person or virtual orientation with you and our family support coordinator, to ensure you understand your role in the process, all the details needed to get started, and how we can best support you as a caregiver in the process.

    10. Your child will begin ABA services as SBBC! Every six months, insurance requires reauthorization. We will conduct assessments again and update the individualized treatment plan and continue the process described above. Your child will continue receiving ABA services during this time, as long as you are still eligible through your insurance company.

  • We provide ABA services in the settings clients need them most - such as the home, community, school and/or center setting. Our recommendation of service settings will vary based on family preferences, the client's needs, and other factors influencing our ability to implement ABA most effectively.

  • We have waitlists with varying lengths of time in our different service locations. Waitlists vary based on current potential client needs in that area and our staffing capacity. We are always seeking to increase our capacity to serve more individuals in need of services. Our company waitlist can vary from 1 month to 12 months depending on that location and current staffing capacity
