Nenah Matney
BCBA
When Nenah Matney first began her professional journey, her path was deeply rooted in a three-generation police family. While she was initially on track to enter the police academy or join the Air Force, her true motivation in pursuing dual bachelor’s degrees in Criminal Justice and Sociology from Indiana University Bloomington was a desire to study human behavior in the criminal justice field. Her trajectory shifted when she stumbled upon the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and immediately fell in love with its potential for impact.
Nenah joined SBBC in 2022 as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) in the Delaware County area. Within a year of beginning her hands-on work in the field, she committed fully to her clinical growth and earned her Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Ball State University. After obtaining her BCaBA certification, Nenah relocated from Indiana to Seattle, Washington, in March 2024. There, she achieved her BCBA certification and served as a contracted BCBA for the Seattle Public School system, supporting students across multiple schools in the greater Seattle area.
After navigating the complexities of the public school system for a year, Nenah returned to SBBC as a Remote Supervisor. She operates through a trauma-informed and trauma-assumed lens, primarily utilizing Acceptance and Commitment Training (ACT) in her clinical work. Always looking to expand her expertise, she is currently pursuing a second Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with the goal of becoming a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) to provide an integrated approach alongside her BCBA credentials.
Outside of her professional life, Nenah loves to head into the mountains to camp with her husband and their two dogs. At home, she enjoys getting creative with various crafts and tending to her ever-growing collection of houseplants.
